Sol Desktop

A notch, Control Centre, and dock for Windows 10 and 11. Version 0.4.0.

Download

1. Open Releases.
2. Download SolDesktop.exe.
3. Double-click it.

No .NET install is required. Use 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. What changed in each version is in CHANGELOG.md.

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the app is not code-signed. Choose More info → Run anyway.

The first launch opens Sol settings. The notch sits at the top of the screen; the dock at the bottom. Right-click either, or the sun icon in the tray, for options. Turn on Start with Windows in General if you want it at sign-in.

Quit from the tray icon or from Settings so the Windows taskbar comes back.

• Control Centre grows out of the notch in one motion. Drag the notch down and it follows the pointer; a short pull springs back.
• The clock uses the notch’s light text. Clicking it opens a calendar.
• Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, sound, and battery switch popups on the first click. The tray opens right away.
• Night Light sits under brightness: turn the blue light filter on and set how warm it is.
• Show Desktop is a thin strip at the end of the dock.
• Quick actions cover File Explorer, Task Manager, Display, Night Light settings, Snipping Tool, Notifications, Do Not Disturb, Lock, Sleep, Restart, and Shut down. Sleep, restart, and shut down ask first.
• Gaming mode, on by default, keeps the notch and dock hidden in fullscreen and does not pull an app out of it.
• Logs in %AppData%\SolDesktop rotate when they get large.
